About

Sneha Joshi is a multidisciplinary artist and curator who challenges perceptions around sociocultural norms and identity through her work. She engages with everyday themes such as technology, language, food, nature and so on in the Indian and global context to initiate cultural conversations. Investigating the creation of social inclusion and exclusion is at the core of her practice. In this way, sharing and creating new knowledge through conversations as a process of exchange is an important aspect of her work. Her work is highly research based and often dialogic, taking the form of participatory, interactive art projects or workshops and publications.

She completed her M.A. in Curatorial Practices from Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology (awaiting results) and her B.A. Fine Art (XD Pathway) from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of the Arts London.

While at university in London she was awarded an Artist Exchange and Residency Programme at The Academy of Applied Arts and The Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts, Rijeka, Croatia. She was also part of the Social Arts Research Residency at Peckham Platform, London. Her work was exhibited at Tate Exchange Studio Complex, Tate Modern, London. In Bangalore, she has engaged in public art projects with ArtInTransit and the Srishti Institute, for Social Research and Arts Project - Visualising Change, in partnership with BBMP.

Recently she was awarded an art grant by Goethe Institut Bangalore for the Gender Bender Festival (2019). She was also an Artist-in-Residence at Pollinator Studio's virtual art residency, Virtual Nursery (2021-21). Her work was also exhibited at the Students' Biennale 4th Edition, parallel to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2020-21.

She currently lives and works in Bangalore, India.
